Outreach - I recently co-chaired a symposium on innovation on paleontology outreach at the North American Paleontology Convention. It inspired me to boost the outreach work in my own lab, and a first step in that was setting up social media accounts for our research groups. You can now find us on Facebook (Gonzaga MEAT Lab) and Instagram (@gonzagameatlab). You can also follow me on Instagram (@jdorcutt) if you're interested in natural history photos and the stories behind them. Stay tuned for a lot more!
Summer Research - It's been a hectic summer as I transition into a permanent position here at Gonzaga, but I've been working with two students, Rémy Delplanche and Taylor Ritchey, on projects related to Miocene paleoecology. Included in our work were a collections visit to the Natural History Museum of LA County, a recent trip to the collections at John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, and a day collecting fossils in the Rattlesnake Formation!
